What you can expect from Moss, and the few things we ask in return.
Moss is a journal, not medical advice
Moss is a place to write. Patterns, Ask, Apple Health numbers and anything Apple Intelligence suggests are reflections of your own pages, not a diagnosis, therapy or professional advice. For anything that matters to your health, talk to a professional. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line straight away.
The agreement
Moss is made by Dew (“we”). Moss is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add a few things on top of it. If the two ever disagree, the Standard EULA wins. By using Moss you agree to both.
What you can expect from us
- Writing, photos, voice, search and export are free, always. Nothing you have written is ever locked away.
- Your pages are yours. We claim no rights to anything you write, record or add, and we can’t see it: it lives on your device and in your own iCloud. See the privacy policy.
- No ads, no account, no dark patterns nudging you to spend or share.
- If we change something that affects you, we tell you in the app first.
Moss Plus and Moss, forever
Moss Plus adds the features for looking back: the whole arc of your patterns, Ask your own journal, the Almanac, as many journals as you like, every paper, ink and starter, and Apple Health beside your pages. It is offered as:

The current price for each is shown in the app, in your currency, before you buy (in the US: $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year and $99.99 once). Prices can differ by country and may change; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. With the free trial, you are charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.
- A subscription renews automatically at the same length and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, or from Moss Plus in the app (“Manage in the App Store”). Cancelling stops the next renewal; Plus stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
- Purchases are handled by Apple under its terms. Refunds are Apple’s to give: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- To bring back a purchase on a new or reset device, use Restore a purchase in Moss Plus, signed in with the same Apple Account.
What we ask of you
- Use Moss for your own journal, lawfully.
- Don’t try to break, reverse-engineer, copy or resell the app.
- Look after your device, your iCloud and your codes. Your Moss code is kept only on your iPhone, so nobody can reset it for you, not us either. See Support for what to do if you forget it.
The honest limits
Moss is provided as it is. We build it carefully, but we can’t promise it will be perfect or never lose anything. Because your pages live only on your devices and in your iCloud, we can’t recover them for you. Keep iCloud on, or make a copy now and then with “Take everything with you”.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost pages, and our total liability is limited as set out in the Standard EULA. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
Ending
You can stop using Moss whenever you like: take a copy, then delete everything from Settings or delete the app. We may stop offering Moss one day; if we do, what’s on your device keeps working as long as it can, and your copy is plain files you can read anywhere.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll say so in the app first and update the date above.
